Obedience Training
Does your dog exhibit behavioural issues that need correcting?
Obedience training, sometimes referred to as behaviour modification training, is suitable for any dog over the age of 6 months who exhibits behavioural issues. The most common types of behaviours we are sought after to correct are:
Leash pulling on walks
Becoming overly excited and jumping on guests when they arrive
Demonstrating aggressive behaviour towards people or other dogs
Food/toy possessiveness resulting in spurts of aggression
A lack of off-leash control including being unresponsive to your commands such as “here,” “sit,” and “down”
Digging in the yard
Excessive barking
Separation anxiety
Although these are not the only behaviours we can help you with, they are the most common issues causing problems and stress for owners.
Our approach at ProK9 when it comes to behaviour modification is to customize each training program to the dog we are working with as each dog has different drives as well as its own unique personality. We then work with you, the owner, as well as your dog to modify their unwanted behaviour(s). With the combination of operant conditioning, decades of knowledge in canine psychology, and training experience under our belt, we are confident we can cultivate a program to fit both you and your dog’s needs.

The Transformation of Rocky
Dave first met Rocky at local shelter, Manitoba Mutt’s Dog Rescue. He had been badly abused, demonstrated aggressive behaviours towards other dogs, and due to his high energy levels he was deemed as “untrainable’ by his previous 3 sets of owners. After 1 month of working with and being cared for by Dave, he has made a complete transformation. He still has loads of energy, but he has learned how to properly channel that energy into something productive- detection.
